Re:Kindle

Written by on October 21, 2009

With all the news over the couple of years about convergent technologies, it’s easy to forget the pleasures of a good, old-fashioned book. I recently read an article slamming the Kindle and E-reader, posing that they both faced a couple of insurmountable challenges – people are still genuinely terrified to use them on the beach or in the bath. It seems that a lot of water or a little sand may still hold back the wheels of progress. Last year, we put forward awards submissions for a notably progressive and technology-savvy law firm on an E-reader. And it went down a storm. Novel stories, novel approach. Lovely. As news aggregators and digital publishers become more and more innovative in their delivery, and the monetisation of content, I think the revolution in how we consume news and information will be a quiet one. We haven’t really noticed the sea-changes thus far. And I suspect the next big things will be taken in our stride (You’re reading this on your iPhone, right?). So, for all of you tech-crunchers out there, here’s something to get your teeth into. The latest (and probably the only) useful addition to the law firm BD bookshelf delivered, remarkably, on a Kindle. It’s called The Rainmaking Machine. Mine’s on order. But not for the beach.
